Our Story
A dark room, full of light
Originato opened in 2022, facing the Gilão river. This is what has happened since, and what we are still building.
There are plenty of cafés in Tavira. What sets this one apart is not a formula: it is a room with dark walls that street light pours into, artwork that keeps changing, and a brunch menu made the same morning.
We serve specialty coffee because we think it is worth doing properly. And we serve brunch until five in the afternoon because nobody should have to get up early to eat pancakes.

What matters to us
Four things we do not compromise on
Coffee taken seriously
Specialty coffee, pulled properly. Flat white, cappuccino, chai, and oat milk always on hand, no apology needed.
Made the same morning
Brunch is made the same day. The menu shifts with what is available, which is why some dishes come and go.
The room is half of it
Dark walls, daylight from the street, art that changes. It is not set dressing: it is why people stay the whole morning.
Unhurried
Wi-Fi, tables on the terrace above the river, and nobody watching the clock. Come to work, come to linger.
The path
How we got here
2022
We opened
In the summer of 2022, on Rua José Pires Padinha, facing the Gilão river. A small space in Tavira's historic centre, made for coffee and brunch, and for people who want to stay a while.
The gallery
The walls became a gallery
In partnership with Tavira d'Artes, the dark walls began carrying work by local and international artists. The exhibition rotates, which means the room is never quite the same twice.
The coffee
Where what we serve comes from
PLACEHOLDER, to confirm with Originato: roastery, coffee origins, and the bakery and produce suppliers.
